Yes they do.
We do have a room that seats about 12 to 16 people. If you call in advance we would be able to reserve it for you. There is no charge if everyone orders food! Thanks
Beautiful local spot, must try when in ABQ and must have for the locals! Ginny is an amazing soul and makes Monica's even more of a gem then it already is!
Fast friendly service and the food is great. The tortillas are made from scratch.
Food was not great. Not what I expected. Maybe they were having an off day. Green chile was watery but spicy and too salty.
Super Fast Service, great food, and very cheap.
I finally took the time to stop in at Monica’s El Portal during a recent trip to Albuquerque. I’ve been driving past it on Rio Grande Blvd NW for years, so I’m pleased to report that the stop was well worth it. I was in a hurry, so ordered breakfast burritos to go and enjoyed excellent coffee and sopapillas while waiting. The homemade tortillas elevated the burritos and ensure a return visit by me for lunch or dinner in the near future. A nice, relaxed atmosphere and attentive service were much appreciated during my hectic morning. Whether visiting Old Town, staying in one of the hotels close by or running errands like me, Monica’s El Portal is worth a stop.
Delicious and quick service. Authentic New Mexican food.
We came for new Mexican fare, and they delivered. Enchiladas were perfect, sopapillas were obviously fresh.
This place is a bit expensive, but the food was really good. The people attending me were polite. The place also had a good ambience and a relaxed vibe.
Enjoyed a delicious Carne Adovada and eggs breakfast plate. Tender Carne, nice heat to the red chili but nothing crazy. My wife’s order came with Bacon with an awesome Smokey flavor and hand cut and fried taters. Very tasty. Local folks!
I was never a big fan of Mexican until I ate at Monica's. Lip smacking delicious food!@ loved it so much!! 💖
Great little place in Old Town. We ate breakfast and was not disappointed. It has a covered patio that we hope to use when we come back. Fresh cookies, too!
I was on my way to the ABQ Museum but really needed to eat before I made it there. I am a fan of eating local and up popped Monica's El Portal, literally. This is a quaint restaurant with New Mexican home cooking/comfort food.Service was quick. The servers are friendly and accommodating.I ordered the Breakfast Quesadilla with salsa. In no time it was brought out to me. The tortillas were fresh and hot. The salsa was homemade. The meal was satisfying and delicious.I will be returning when I am in the neighborhood.
Today I had the Chicken Fiesty Fijitas as a burrito. It was okay--at little under $12. Like so many New Mexician restaurants, they rely on red or green chile for flavor, though there was a cumin flavor to the chicken (many restaurants don't even give you that). I was told the tortillas are homemade, which is a plus. The salsa was a little unique and had a little bit to it.Probably a draw would be the ambiance of a old New Mexico house with color. They also have 2 patios. Oh, you can walk to the plaza.I love a drink with a straw...you won't even find a paper straw here (something about not wanting to spend the money...remember $12 burrito...just saying). New ordinance coming in ABQ about plastic straws, but you can still use paper or metal straws.
From the outside it didn't look like much. But this restaurant just proves that looks can be deceiving. I ate one of the most delicious burgers I've ever had, it was so good that I ordered a second one. Some might say overkill, I call it an once in a lifetime opportunity. My granny had a surprisingly delicious chicken soup. It was just good. 4/5 stars because of the unappealing looks.
Monica's El Portal is one of the best authentic New Mexican restaurants here in the 505. Love this place ❤!!
It was good but it's not the best I've had
I had the blue corn enchiladas. Service was very fast especially for how busy it was.I was in a hurry to get back to work.I did not know that I needed to pay upfront. Most restaurants you paid the server. It just would have been nice to hear them say. Take it up to the register when you're ready.
I really liked in here! The food was good, and they had Mexican great music. And it wasn't that expensive. I would come back :)
Food was good, burritos are big and sopapillas were delicious!! Reasonable prices. Place was very clean, everyone was wearing masks and respecting social distancing.
4 stars for food - only because my tamales were decent, but not great. The enchiladas were delish, the queso was super chunky and spicy (yum!). The service was 5 stars - they brought our dog water and a bone, and were very kind. I would highly recommend this place for enchiladas and queso, but not if you're craving tamales.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!Will Never go back or recommend to Anyone.Food was Not Good Either! And I Got Terribly Sick the Whole Night!!!!!!!!!!07/16/2020.
This was my brothers favorite restaurant. Our family gathered in celebration of him. The menu for was varied so everyone had just what they wanted. Everything was tasteful, spiced just right. Good prices.
Just ok. Food all tasted a bit like old oil. Server was very nice.
We were so excited to come here as the reviews were excellent and we wanted to have some good food before we headed back to the airport. Unfortunately, it was just too plain. My wife had an okay enchilada dish and she said the green chili sauce was flavorful, however, my nachos were just okay. They didn't have a lot of flavor and the whole beans weren't drained so the chips got soggy. Finally the cheese seemed like inexpensive cheese as it didn't melt well. Oh well, I guess you cannot win them all. The service was excellent though and our waitress was so friendly and accommodating.
We were looking for a restaurant that would serve us delicious homemade Mexican food and Monica's El Portal Restaurant did just that. An amazing sangria started off a fabulous meal including a combination plate, chicken fajitas and guacamole side with sopapillas for dessert. So delicious! Monica's is on Rio Grande Blvd NW right across from Old Town.
Very good home-cooked southwestern meal. Sopapillas are to die for and are served with honey making them melt in your mouth sweet.
Would not recommend eating here if you want to be satisfied. Horrible house salad!! looked liked it took them 1 minuet to make it. I asked for additional chicken however they didn’t have any...I also asked for a side of guacamole for my salad but did not get any. I didn’t eat the the salad but still paid for it.
Great New Mexican food, friendly staff, great prices easy on your wallet.
Great service and good food. Dined outside due to Covid. Nice ambiance.
While the place itself has nothing special being outside of oldtown plaza the food is just amazing.Service was helpful, dynamic and very friendly.Everything is real tasty and the sopaipillas are to die for.
We enjoyed an authentic New Mexican breakfast at Monica's El Portal Restaurant near Old Town in Albuquerque. We ordered the delicious huevos rancheros, breakfast burger, breakfast burrito, and breakfast stuffes sopapilla. The home made tortillas was a nice touch. We finished our meal with fresh sopapillas and honey. The service was good and the price was reasonable. They also have plenty of parking.
Love this place!!!! Food is great! I'm not a salsa kinda person, but I love their salsa!
I love the homey vibes. True New Mexican. Food was flavorful & well presented. Staff was very welcoming & polite. Service was satisfying. Overall I've had a great first experience.
Great food, we loved the guacamole and sopasitas. All the food was good, enjoyed it a lot
Love this restaurant 😍 it's got the best food for Albuquerque NM
Went for lunch and wasn't disappointed. The chili has a good heat to it, and the Adovada was tasty. Service was really good and attentive. Will definitely be back!
Just got their huevos rancheros with red....soooooo delicious!!!! I'm 100% happy. I will go back a million times more.
I ate lunch at your place yesterday.. Food was good but I was really looking forward to getting a plate like the photos you post.. Our plates were very small..for the price.. also your sign says seat yourself but when we did the waitress asked us to move..☹️ Also waitress only checked on us once.. Probably won't be back.. ☹️
Our waitress was so good, she was on it... we order our food and she had it out, chips and salsa on the table right away. I will be back it was a fine dining experience*****
Great authentic mexican food in a cozy old house right in old town Albuquerque! A must try for tourists and locals alike!
Went on 10/12 I had the best food and service you could ask for. Enchilades, tortilla, salsa and green Chile stew was simply perfect. Thank you and will be back when I am in town again.
Great place to stop in if you are in Old Town for a quick pick me up. Great food, great prices, friendly staff! AMAZING SALSA!!!
Great service. Quick and to the point. Fun location with some antique cooking equipment to see. Food was great.
I went to this place. The food is good, 100% local recipes. Not too spicy, so you can really enjoy. A good place to take a look into NM cuisine.
It's not bad, but nothing special. Seems to cater to the tourist crowd in regards to taste but the people are nice.one caveat is the sopapillas are really great. The prices are fair and service pretty quick.
This is a really cozy restaurant with New Mexico art work and decor throughout the three small to medium sized rooms. The coffee is really great and comes in a large mug. The Huevos Rancheros are excellent with perfectly cooked eggs. The red chili sauce is really flavorful with just a bit of chili hotness. This is now one of my favorite places for a traditional style NM breakfast
The services was good and they have two patios. I had the green chili chicken stuffed sopia and it was good. It's hard to find real good green chili and they have it. The natillas were so good.
This place was really good.. fresh food and family run. The sopapias were fantastic. I had a Chimichanga that had picadillo inside.. the red chili sauce was tasty!
I have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years. Every time I come to the restaurant, I get treated like I'm one of the family. Also the wait staff pretty much know what I want to order because I order it so much. I guess it's because I order it alot of the time.
What more could you ask for here? Excellent food, excellent service, quick turnaround with the order. Renee was so kind to us. We will definitely be back here again!
